This the central question every HIV Long-Term Survivor has had to grapple with at some point. We are the survivors of the worst epidemic in the modern era. We are the Confederacy of Survivors who spent years planning to die not planing to live. Now we find ourselves in our 50s, 60s, and 70s and for most of it's scary.
Let's Kick ASS—AIDS Survivor Syndrome℠ is the original grassroots movement devoted to improving the lives of survivors by empowering, engaging, unifying, and elevating survivors to reclaim our lives, end isolation, and envisioning a future we never dreamed we'd live.
Established in 2013, we're peer-lead survivors who understand that who building resilient communities is the path forward and the key to not being moored in the past.
Endorsement from Michael Gottlieb, M.D., AIDS pioneer and Rock Hudson's doctor:
"I met Tez Anderson two years ago in San Diego at the US Conference on AIDS. As an HIV doctor since the beginning I was seeing men and women with ASS every day in my medical practice. Tez and I quickly realized that we were on the same page; if you had HIV you couldn't go through a time as traumatic as the '80's and '90's without major life-changing ramifications. Depression, isolation, economic hardship, careers put aside.... and a feeling that society had no idea what you had been through, and didn't much care. Going forward it was dismissive of your relevance. Let's Kick ASS fills what was a void. It provides opportunities for survivors of those heartbreaking times to approach the present and future with hope. My congratulations to Tez and Let's Kick ASS for your great work."

From director of the Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Richard Wolitski, Ph.D.:
"We still have much to learn about the needs and experiences of long-term HIV survivors and to be prepared to care for the needs of an aging population of people living with HIV. I am glad that HIV Long-Term Survivors Day gives us a chance to talk about these experiences, to listen to those who are able and willing to tell their stories, to find some healing for ourselves, and to renew our national commitment to meeting the needs of long-term survivors. They are our witnesses to history, our warriors in the fight against HIV, and our heroes."
